Over the last weekend, the college organised a trip to Longsheng, and to the famous rice terraces of Longji. This place is supposed to be one of the most picturesque places in Guilin county because of its wonderful view of terraced fields. These fields were first built in Yuan dynasty about 700 years ago, and later on completed in Qing dynasty by several peoples living in that area. We have been to the Ping'an fields. Late September is allegedly the most beautiful season to visit this spot. During our stay, it was pretty much clouded, misty, and not very busy on the fields (out of season). Nevertheless, the place is amazing and interesting, and a good hike. In fact, the hikes on both days have been really demanding, totalling up to some eight hours of walking up and down. Back in Yangshuo, I enjoyed the atmosphere of Kaya bar for the last night before preparing to move on to Hangzhou, to the east coast of China. High temperatures are awaiting me there / some 35 degrees have been reported during the day.

..finally
i was getting worried after a week without post :-)
it's a reading pleasure for us as well, and a more than welcomed distraction from the craziness of some working days.
enjoy the trip, bring a single seed of rice back

Those photos remind of my childhood with my Oma, too!! It's a hard work with lots of sweat... Maybe you can buy a bit rice (yi1dian3 mi2) from farmer there.
