Today in the morning, I arrived in Guilin, after having taken the night train from Guangzhou. This train was in fact very convenient. However, I also spent a (Chinese) fortune on the ticket for the more/most expensive (soft) sleeper compartment. There are four beds. For quite some hours, I was alone in this compartment, until in the middle of the night after a stop a Chinese guy joined me. He first was talking to another guy obviously paying a visit in our compartment, before he then turned towards me. What followed was my first, real conversation in Chinese. Thanks to Emily, I could at least tell him some basics about myself: being Austrian, my age and family status, my family - big topic to talk about always in China - my profession (well, a bit at least), and my travel plans. In turn, he was talking A LOT from which I only understood a little. At least, he is 54 of age, lawyer, travelling back to Guilin, has a girlfriend, no kids, and loves classical music (violine and piano). Apart from that, he was very patient trying to tell me really many, many things. Well, I should have practiced more before my departure to be prepared for that. Anyway, it was a nice chap to share the compartment with.
Having arrived in Guilin, I was prepared for many touts waiting outside the station, trying to bring you to a hostel, hotel, somewhere else, telling you this, that, something else, and so forth. I grabbed a taxi, negotiated the price (still too high, but hey, I paid 20 RMB which was 2 Euros for a 15minutes ride ... not too bad anyway) and went to the university of technology, in guilin, where i will stay at Leo's place until Wednesday, before continuing to Yangshuo, the probably most beautiful village and scenery around here.
Finally, I also uploaded pictures for my previous entries since Hongkong. Have a look!

Ni-Hao :-) I am VERY proud of you!

I am sure that this experience paid off and try to enjoy under the spotlight!! At least, you already made a cheaper price for taxi fare. Gute gemacht!!
