I arrived in Hong Kong yesterday in the evening. There are several ways to go downtown, including the Airport Express Train. Like in Vienna, and apart from taking a taxi, this is the more expensive version (100 $ to Central). I decided to be adventurous, following Lonely Planet's hints, and took the S1 bus to Tung Chung then changing to the MTR (= Mass Transit Railway, the most convenient way to travel in Hong Kong). The bus ride cost $ 3.50, and the trip on the MTR to Lam Tin station where I stay about $ 13. What a difference! Like in Singapore, you can also buy a re-loadable value card for public transport. In Singapore it's the EZ-Link-Card, here in Hong Kong it's the Octopus Card. Very convenient. Furthermore, it seems that places like restaurants are also connected to this system - at least at McDonalds you can pay with your Octopus Card.
The weather is a bit different to Singapore: today in the morning, we have some 23 degrees celsius, and it's pretty cloudy with a likelihood to rain (it did rain a bit yesterday in the evening). Plan for today: going downtown to Hong Kong Island, walk around Sheung Wan and Central districts, have something to eat in SOHO, and maybe go up to Viktoria Peak.

Hope you'll have time to meet Christine and enjoy the night life in HK :-) Don't forget about Pascal's pick-up lines at pubs!!

Ni hao!
Pascal's pick-up lines - in case they ever worked, which I darely doubt - will not work in Cantonese, though. So different here!
