From Steve:  Last day in Paris and of our holiday.  For the last day we just wandered around a bit in an area we hadn't seen much of for the time we had. The trip to the airport was always going to be difficult with the collection of things we had gained during our time away.  Some people say the French are arrogant I didn't find this at all during our stay and the last couple of hours of hauling the bags from hotel to subway to train etc proves them wrong.  At every set of stairs we had at least one person come up to us and help us out.  Not just the kids either, quite a few helped me carry the bags down or up the stairs (must be the gray hair).   It just confirmed to me that the French (as were the Italians and Germans) are extremely friendly and helpful.  Their phrasing my seem blunt at times but I'm sure it was not intended that way on those rare occasions.

It's certainly been an adventure and action packed holiday.  This will be my last entry.  The travel time back takes another day but nobody wants to here about that.  That's the worst part of the trip, it's a long way home.

I hope you have enjoyed our stories.  Five weeks was a long while for the four of us to maintain such close company.  There were times where Alison and Sam fought like cat and dog but that's what happens when you are so alike, two peas in a pod.  And on a couple of occasions there was some "stress" built up and released by Alison and I.  But these were minor, overall we have had such a great time just being together and immersed in Europe's history and living the high life.

Steve's Word's of the Day:  Fantastic Trip

From Alison:  Today was our last day and we went in search of the Cluny Museum again.  By the time that we got the room packed up and walked down and across the river, we realised that we weren't going to have any time at the museum.  So we just wandered around enjoying the Latin Quarter.  We realised this morning that the leaves are now turning brown and falling - they were still very green when we arrived only eight days ago.  It is overcast but we are enjoying our last moments here

One last crepe for lunch and back to the hotel to collect the bags and head for the airport. We must have looked a sight trundelling along in single file dragging the bags through the streets to the subway. Swapping trains to go to the airport and then needing a bus for the final stage as the end of the train line was closed for maintenance.  A last light rail trip between airports and we were there!  What an adventure!  A minor hassle with French customs trying to get a tax refund and we were on our way.

Alison's Words of the Day:  Homeward bound!

From Beck:  Bonjour Peoples! Today was the end! The last day! We went to find the Cluny Museum, but somewhere along the way there we decided we wouldn't have enough time to get there, see it all and get back to the hotel, so we just walked around and walked back to the hotel taking a scenic route, stopping along the way for a crepe for lunch. We then caught the Metro and a train to the airport.

Beck's Word of the Day:  Goodbye!
From Sam: Today we went for a walk in the morning and picked up some breakfast (I had a chocolate donut). After walking for a bit we got lunch (I had ice cream). When we had finished lunch we returned to the hotel and packed up the stuff that hadn't been packed up yesterday. We then took the subway to a train station where we caught a train. The train took us to a spot where we could take a bus to the airport (some of the train line was closed). After wandering around and asking for help for a while we found out that we were supposed to be in another terminal so we caught a little train to the terminal we were supposed to be in. In the airport there were giant sized chuppa-chups and PS3s. We got on the plane and started to watch the movies on it (a lot of new releases there).

Sam's Words and exclamation mark of the Day: Almost home!
