We arrived in Lund the lovely little university town of Lund, in the south of Sweden as part of the Australian contingent to the wedding of Australian born Neil and Swedish Viktoria. Lund is small and very pretty, famous for its university, and for its cathedral. We were welcomed with a traditional Swedish ´crayfish party´. This involves eating small crayfish boiled with dill and lemon, drinking Schnapps and singing Viking songs, which was lots of fun, though not very tuneful when you are singing in another language.
Over the next few days we explored the surrounding area, taking a day trip to Copenhagen in Denmark, as well as up to Helsingborg, and then catching a ferry accross to Helsingor in Denmark, which is famous for its large castle (with a very impressive moat), that Shakespeare based his story of Hamlet on. We sampled the traditional Swedish fondue (meat you cook yourself in boiling oil), which was very tasty, but probably not so good for your cardiovascular health 01

We also went to Malmo, which was good timing as it was the start of the Malmo festival, which was very fun. There was more crayfish partying going on there, and lots of food stalls selling such delicacies as Elk, reindeer, and wild boar. It has a program of free concerts, with well known Swedish and international acts. We énjoyed ´Buck 65´from Canada.

The wedding itself was held in a beautiful small old church set among the fields out of Lund. The bride looked beautiful, and the service was nice. We followed up with the reception at the Grand Hotel in Lund, and had lots of fun singing more Viking songs, dancing and meeting the locals. A great time was had by all, and we were sad to say goodbye as we left for Estonia
