From Sicily I flew to Rome before catching the train Pescara on the eastern side of the country, passing through the beautiful and unspoilt mountains of Abruzzo on the way. From Pescara it was a quick 30 minute trip on the plane over to Split in Croatia. Izm staying in a private room, just off the central square of Split town, and next to the Dioclesian palace (dating from the 3rd century AD), which is really beautiful. The weather is warm, and the people very friendly. Tomorrow I will catch the ferry out to Hvar island, and then island hop down to Dubrovnik.

1st June-
When I arrived in Split I almost decided to join a 7 day cruise through the islands, but am glad I didnŠt as Hvar island is so percect I have spent 5 days here. The weather is perfect, well at least until I decided to post my umbrella home yesterday thinking I had no need for it any longer! Today is is drizzling and cold, making me glad I didnŠt decide to post back my warm jumper as well. The town is really pretty, with old medieval streets, topped by a Venetian fortress which gives great views over the harbour. THe seafood here is excellent, and there are many secluded little coves. Tonight I head to Korcula island, then on to Dubrovnik. WIll upload my photos when I find a faster computer
