Hi!,
Am a bit slow at updating my site, so I'll fill you in on my recent activities.
I arrived in Florence on Sunday, and have been sick since then with a cold. Unfortunately the weather has also been miserable "il bruto del giorno" as the Italians say, cold and raining so I have been wearing all three of my jumpers at once and carrying the umbrella everywhere with me.
After some indecision I have found an italian school and painting classes. I had my first painting lesson on Tuesday, and Italian classes start on Monday.
I have had some difficulty finding an apartment. The Italian school showed me some places, but most of them weren't suitable
However today I had a look at another place sharing with two Italian sisters from Calabria (the toe of the boot of Italy(. I could move in on Monday, but they are showing some other people around and will let me know tomorrow if I can have the aprtment. So I have my fingers crossed!!
With all that and being sick as well I haven't had much time for sight seeing, though I did climb the bell tower of the duomo today, which gave a lovely view over Florence. I will post some pictures next week.
I hope to head to Cinque Terre (a group of 5 villages on some spectacular coastline( tomorrow, and return on Sunday night in time for lessons on Monday.

01- Ponte Vecchio
. One was sharing with four smokers, so it smelt, but was otherwise quite a nice apartment. The other wasn't actually available, and the third was a miserable small cold room. They were also quite expensive. Instead I have been answering advertisments that I have seen posted around coffee shops. I found a lovely (and cheap( apartment sharing with four Italian girls who spoke no English, which would have been perfect. Unfortunately with no understanding of Italian I thought the apartment was available in March, but it isn't actually available until May.
