Show trip route
Open the curtains and we're sailing down the Croatian coastline.
We decide not to bother with the shuttle and walk out into Dubrovnik and head for the old city. It's a long way, longer than any two miles, and takes about an hour. We walk the circuit of the walls
We wander the city and stop for lunch. It's a seafood only place down by the yacht harbour, but after Al looks at the menu with the thought there is nothing he'll eat, he sees what others are being served and we order prawns, squid, cheese and bread and BEER.
Back on board. Was only 15 today but seems much warmer now the sun is out so just put on a polo and shorts and take the laptop up on deck. Grab some beer and Al sees Cindy and Darlene who we'd sat beside in the terminal in Venice. Switch the laptop on and can't see a thing, way too glary so I give up. I go over and join in the conversation. Al makes a comment about the gelati and Cindy thinks he's talking about drinking, we just take so much for granted, but compared to so many people we are very well travelled. I head inside to try and get this thing started. Grab a very nice coffee at Explorers.
Grab a coffee on the way to dinner and Lester and Eduardo are already breaking bread. After we've ordered we're joined by our other table mates - three ladies, Edith, Sue and Edith's daughter (name ??). They are going through to Rio as well. Sue is hilarious, Edith is German, very dry and I love her. Edith and Sue live in Arizona and the daughter in Florida. Edith is a photographer who met Sue when she invited her to exhibit at her gallery. Sue may have a bit of a gambling compulsion me thinks. I think maybe they're a little too much for our Puerto Rican companions. Hope they haven't been scared off. Finish dinner and are tempted to go to the show but we're tired and head back to the cabin. Our first towel animal is waiting for us - a stingray. Very cute. Decide we'll get room service breakfast so fill the card in and hang it out. Very calm sea tonight. What a difference 24 hours make.
Day 7 (At Sea)
Brekky in room today - great choice because it was quite warm and sunny early on.
Al sat outside on the lounger for quite a while enjoying the warmth after the cold days in Italy and Dubrovnik. Weather got cooler and clouded over by 10:30am. Sat by the pool for a while. We had MORE pistachio chocolate chip cookies (seems to be an every day thing for most people on the ship - just can't get away from them).
Bumped into Karen and Mary. They are just four doors down the corridor from us. They were concerned yesterday that we'd only be four at our cruise critic get together this afternoon Karen thinks there'll be maybe ten now. Didn't do much at all really but that's what sea days are for - battery re-charging.
Bit late to CC get together and they're all there - Karen and Mary, Hank and Suzanne, Allan and B? (his wife) and Richard and Linda. We'll be going on our shore excursion in Malta tomorrow with the first six and Hank asks if there'll be room for Richard and Linda in Casablanca. I'm sure there will be but will contact Mme Dina in any case.
First formal night and early show tonight so get dressed, have photos taken and head to showroom. Fantastic Italian violinist as entertainer tonight. Dinner a riot. Sue and Edith are like Heckyl and Jeckyl. Hilarious.
