Where I stayed
After the surf session, i went back to the Hostel to take a shower and had some breakfast. I had breakfast with the scottish couple Anna and James where they told me that there was a lot of noise last night from the courtyard. I knew exactly what went down that night, but i didn't want to tell them. Apparantly, Giulio and Raul got a little cruel game going of Cat Bowling. They drank a bunch of beers and set up the cans on the floor and rolled the little kitten that chilled in the courtyard begging for food on a daily basis. There was only one rule, in order for the game to go on the cat would have to come back. Apparantly, the kitten came back 4 times during the night, so Raul had about 4 sets of games. I'm not sure who won, but i guess it was the kitten. James and Anna told me that it sounded like they dumped everything they had on the courtyard table on the ground. It would have been a ridiculous sight if they had opened the door and saw two adults rolling a kitten to hit over some empty beer cans. It was cruel, but i couldn't help but laugh.
For the afternoon I took a walk up to Orongo which is the old village near the Rano Kau Crater. The hike up the dirt road wasn't too exciting, but it was a beautiful day to see such a beautiful crater. After about an hour and 20 minutes i reached the top and saw a amazing crater with a marsh/lake inside of it
At night, no cat bowling, but we had some drinks and talked about what we all saw that day. I was quite tired, but wanted to stay up and hear everyone's story. That was a great thing about the Hostel here were the people. We always had a good vibe going and we were really comfortable amongst each other. I really enjoy the lifestyle here on the island and it's probably what Hawaii was like for both my grandparents on Maui when they were growing up. It seems as if life here on easter island takes a step back into time and preserves time for visitors to enjoy it's magical places.
