another day in pâris and lovin it. yestterday we used the second dat of our museum pass to cruise through the arc de triumph, napoleon's tomb and the army museum, the luxembourg gardens and the of course the louvre and the pyramids. the louvre is sooooo big. we were there for about 3.5 hours and felt like we hadnt even touched most of it. the artwork was incredible though. of course there was a big crowd for the mona lisa, the most famous of all. but she was not our favourite. we enjoyed a lot of the italian paintings and the egyptian crafts. the french sculptures were also nice. after another long, exhausting day we decided to climb the more than 400 stairs of the arc de triumph for the second time in one day. we really wanted to get our moneys worth:) actually we wanted to see the city lit up at night, which was amazing. although i would advise not to eat a chocolate crepe before engaging in such a climb. the eiffel tower is every bit as romantic as everyone claims. the way it illuminates the city is incredible.
today was a much more relaxing day. we had to switch hotels again this morning. our hotel is now in the montmarte district. so we took a stroll dozn a different neighborhood and sat for a small "concert" in front of sacre-coeur, a beautiful cathedral overlooking the city from paris' highest hill. from there we went to see a free jazz show, which is part of a local festival. it was outside of town at chez fernand, a cute little mom and pop joint. we are on our way back now. we miss you all. our trip is more than half way done....xoxoxo
