Paris was a very big city! It was much bigger than I expected! After returning to Hamm I looked up the population and it was 9,794,000. Paris was also very dirty! I am very glad that I went and got to see everything but I am not planning any more trips to Paris in the future. Our tour guide said that Paris looses 2,000 residents per year due to rent. It is very expensive. It is cheaper to buy wine there then it is a coke! The wine is about $4.50 and the cokes are $7.00 a glass. We got to see a lot and our feet got to see a lot of pavement. We walked at least 20 miles a day, no lie!
Notre-dame was very pretty! There were a lot of amazing stain glass windows there! When we were there was a service going on so that was neat! One thing that was odd and very tacky in my option was there was a gift shop in the church's sanitary. I realize that it is very famous but put the gift shop somewhere else.
The Eiffel Tower was massive! It was much bigger than I expected it to be. We stopped on all three floors! It was very cool to look out over such a large city, it kind of gave you some perspective on how big the city really was. On our last night we went on a tour of the city at night and it was really cool! It is lighted blue right now and has stars on it right now because France is the leader of the European union right now.
The Louvre was cool I was not that interested in it with the exception of Mona Lisa. It was an art museum. There were cool things there but over all it was low on my list.
The Arc de Triomphe was HUGE! I think that was the thing that I was most surprised about its size! It was massive! We really didn't stop at it we just drove by.
The Basilique Du Sacre-Coeur was very pretty and that was it! It was the first place that we stopped and gave us a very bad impression of Paris! It was nasty; the street people apparently used it for their bathroom (the steps leading up to it). It smelled horrid!
The Place de la Concorde was interesting. It made more since to me after I found out that Egypt gave it to France!
We also saw the hotel that Lady Diana spent her last night and the underpass where she was killed.
So that is all for now I am really tired and it is 1:37 in the morning here.
One last think for those of you that are wondering about the title, the tour bus that we were on was excited that there were Americans on the bus so they played there American music that they had, Mariah Carry's Christmas CD!
