Yesterday (Friday, July 11,2008), We arrived to a typical German breakfast; this consisted of bread, cheese, and lunchmeat. We did not do to much because we were very tired. Mom, Ulla, and Jana went on a bike ride around the town. Jerry and I played Wii with the boys. Then Ulla made my favorite meal from the last trip, Lasagna! It was very worth the four year wait. Then we made a few phone calls and sent a few emails home to let people know we were here and went to bed.
Today (Saturday, July 12, 2008), we had breakfast and then went to the Allee Center, which is like the mall
. I got a new pare of shoes from the shoe store where Bert buys his running shoes. They have this machine that scans your feet and then they tell you what kind of shoes you need. The shoes that I got are very comfortable and they are very supportive. I also got a Cola Light it is equal to our diet coke but it is much better, everyone agreed! After the Allee Center we went to a friend of Ulla's and then we had a cherry pie/cake thing. It was good but it was not very sweet. The cherry's came out of the grandmother's garden. They were sour cherries unlike the sweet cherries in America. From there everyone went to the Schuetzen Fest, where they shoot the bird and if the bird falls on their shot they become king for the year. The Schuetzen Fest, has evolved from a military task. Every neighborhood (such as Hixson and Red Bank) had to have an army and they had to practice shooting so they made it a competition. This is no longer the case now it is just for fun. It is very expensive to become the king they say.
I am going to go to bed now because it is late and I am still not on a good sleep schedule.
Today has been a long day because I have still not completely recovered from the flight over here. This trip has been very difficult for me with the jet lag; my first trip was not bad at all. I have virtually no jet lag then.
