It's all about the VIRGIN MARY.
I stumbled upon another celebration at Park Central, on the steps of the Leon Cathedral. It seems that Juan Diego,(an Aztec Indian with a new"Christian Name") who was made a saint by John Paul (the last), had a vision of the Virgin Mary (and who hasn't) in the city of Guadalupe (Mexico City), many years ago ( 4 times actually, from the 8th to the 12th). The Virgin Mary Of Guadalupe is the most powerful figure of all the Americas and the Catholic Church there.
The dance of the masked boys is the traditional dance - ( El Baile Guegenese ). They represent the Spanish. The sound you hear is made by the quica drums they all carry.(You pull the stick on the drum, and the head vibrates in a moan)
The little boy has a fake mustache to look like St Juan Diego, the indigenous Aztec Mexican.
www.google.com Our Lady of Guadalupe
AND... The Mexican Playboy issue came out on Dec11th with a nude Maria on it's cover.

... with the phrase, "We Adore You, Maria"
