Our next stop was at Broken Hill. We stopped at the information centre to find out some things we could do. Broken Hill is famous for its mining for silver, zinc and lead so there are heaps of shops selling rocks and crystals. I've bought a little bottle with some silver, lead and zinc in it but you can’t open it. The next day we went to a mine. We had a tour of the under ground bit of the mine and the top. Our tour guide was funny and interesting. We went 30 metres under the ground and we found some very interesting stuff.
Question: what are spiders used for in the mine?
Answer: The spider I’m talking about is not the creepy crawly you might be thinking about. A spider is actually a name of a candle holder that is used in the mine.
Hi from Alec:
Today at Broken Hill we went down an old mine (130 years old). It was dark and it was cramped, cold and dirty. Yesterday the lady in the tourist office asked me to find out about the spider in the mine. The spider was a candle holder. There was another spider and it was a drink. We had the drink at Bell's Milkbar. There was a museum at Silverton. I liked the model of the Silverton Post Office. I also liked the model of a mine.
