After having spent a most fabulous night on Lucas' 'hover bed' (I called it that because I literally felt like the bed wasn't even on the ground. It felt more like it was just floating - hovering- above the ground) I woke up and had some breakfast. Trevor works from home...so he was in the small office making calls. I got dressed and then left for downtown Vancouver to find the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office.
I stopped off at a London Drugs to get some Visa pictures taken and logged into the internet at their little cafe. After I was all done, I ventured further down the main street (West Georgia St.) and easily found the TECO. Visa application process was smooth and effective. I handed in all my stuff at 11 AM and by 3:30 PM everything was ready. While killing time downtown I sated my Tim Horton's cravings and purchased a pair of nice ankle-high boots. After picking up my Visa I took the 'Sky Train' to Main St. Station and then bussed it to the travel agency that had purchased my ticket. I spoke with the man there: Johnson and got all the last-minute details. Hopped on a bus back to the Trevor-Lucas house. I must say, I was VERY impressed by the Vancouver transit system. Well, I suppose that after spending 2 years dealing with an un-effective Brazilian transit system that even the transit system in Calcutta would impress me...I was somewhat overwhelmed by the Canadian cleanliness and effectiveness of the buses and stuff. I mean...if a bus was full...it WOULDN'T stop to pick up more people!! Man, I didn't know how to handle that. I was like...why are theren't people hanging out of windows here? Look at how much room there is left in that bus! Any sensible bus driver would be trying to pack as many people in there as possible! LOL.
Later in the evening I made some coconut curry chicken for Lucas and Trevor as a thank you for their hospitality. I also made them 'caipirinhas' with the Brazilian sugar cane rum. I prepared a 'pah-vey' for them (so we could have for dessert the following night' and 'brigadeiro' pudding (cocoa powder and condensed milk heated up on the stove-top till thick). Dinner was a success and everyone was drunk on the caipirinhas (hey, I DID warn them).
Back to the 'hover bed' for another night of fantastic sleep.
