The time finally came to take my things and leave Brazil. I was such a pile of emotions...I was sad, happy, excited, nervous...you name it! The taxi had booked showed up right at 2:20 PM. He took me to my real estate agent so I could pay off the rent and return the keys...and then we were off. We stopped at Sao Pedro da Aldeia to pick up my grndpa...who was just adamant on accompanying me to the airport and seeing me off. Our ride to the Rio airport was rather uneventful. It was nice and early in the day so the traffic was awesome. We made it to the airport around 6 PM...which was great...cuz my flight left at 8:50 PM. I loaded my luggage into the cart and then left grandpa to watch them while I ran to the bathroom. In mid-pee...I realized I had left my cell phone in the taxi...the cell phone I was supposed to give to my grandpa that day...OOPS! I ran over to grandpa and used his cell phone to call mine. I talked to the driver and he said that he would arrange it for my grandpa to get the cell phone back.
At the check-in counter I was informed that one of my flights had been cancelled. My Mami-Dallas flight was no longer in existance and so therefore I could not take my Dallas-Vancouver flight. First the lady wanted to put me on a flight to Seattle...so I could then fly to Vancouver. She then realized that that flight was fully booked. She then put me on a flight to San Francisco...so I could then fly to Vancouver and arrive sort of around the same time I was originally supposed to. I had my two pieces of luggage to check in and was ready to pay an extra bag fee because I had one bag just full of my lotions, perfumes and skin care products...you know...stuff you can't have in your carry-on anymore. Surprisingly, the lady didn'tr charge me. She said I wouldn't have to pay cuz they were prohibited products. Meh...I was just glad I didn't have to pay.
After everything was finally in order...I kissed grandpa goodbye and then went to board my flight.
