All the same, I am so glad we are flying to Cairo rather than driving. While the view might have been interesting, and we would have gone through Port Said, it simply was not worth the time... not after all the driving we have already done. Besides, we will see that part of the country next time, and there is so much to see in Cairo, I want to make the most of my last full day.
I couldn't imagine staying in Hurghada any longer, much too touristy for me. Unless of course you have your diving ticket, then I am sure it is a much better experience as the local reefs are renowed. But as a place to kick back and relax, it is only okay. Our hotel, while aesthetically beautiful is all for show. It is not on the beach, although you can grab a shuttle to a private beach, the actual service is okay, and the food, not so good. It is far enough from town to make the walk a trek, the free drinks disastrous... Maybe we just weren't in the "all-inclusive" mood at this part of our trip. Maybe you are just not meant to combine the styles, trekking and all-in, together.
