Look out!
The service on the boat was fabulous, the crew was extraordinarily courteous and friendly. Like most other resorts, every time we came back to our room our sheets were folding into interesting shapes and creatures. There was even a towel alligator in the hallway one night.Sunset
The sunsets off our private deck were beautiful. The atmosphere is so serene; the lake is empty of any other traffic or boats. While the sites aren't that impressive comparatively, it is interesting to imagine how they were all rebuilt and saved from the flooding caused by the dam. It is also, by far, the best way to travel towards Abu Simbel. When we woke up this morning, we were already cruising. The boat spent a full 11 hours moving on the Nile, and while it was beautiful, it was a little too peaceful for both Ben and I. There was really no entertainment or plans outside the site visits, and there were none of those planned today.
We've got a Reader
We raided the "library," where Ben managed to find a written copy of Princess Bride, but even that could only keep him entertained for so long. We played some Scrabble, enjoyed drinks on the deck when we passed the Tropic of Cancer... That is about it... Ate three really good meals... It was pretty tame.
The only adventure came when our phone rang early to wake us up to go to Abu Simbel... Ben explains it quite thoroughly, but I wanted to remark that both out Tour Company and the cruise went out of their way to organize the extra-ordinary side trip to get us to the Festival.
