Here we are, after 3 long days of travel, in our first and sadly only location in Belize. We are just too short on time. In fact in exactly two weeks we'll be going to bed early to get up and catch a flight home to Canada. *sniff* it's been good...but all good things must come to an end. I just heard that I am not being accepted to school, so now I don't really have anything to do when I get home...but that's ok! I'll work and save up to travel again.
It has been an interesting 3 days. We started off at 5:30AM on Utila, to go catch the ferry to La Ceiba, which leaves at 6:20. After about an hour of that, we were there! In a cab, then on a bus to San Pedro Sula again! Another cab and a bus to Puerto Cortes. We got a place and then went down to the docks to check out the boat sitch. I guess the boat in the LP wasn't running when it said it was (big surprise.) But there was another boat that was going to take us. It was a little sketchy, but we didn't have much choice. So we went! The next morning at about 7:30 we caught a cab to migration. They said they would bring our passports to the dock at 10:30, which seemed odd seeing as the guy the day before told us the boat left at 8. But again...no choice. Once we got to the docks of course the guys told us the boat goes at 11:30. So we wait. Luckily there was a nice little restaurant there. So I had some rice and shrimp...yum. At 11:30 on the boat to Belize! About 2 hours in we stopped at Big Creek for stamps and a quick luggage search then off to Placencia and finally Dangriga. We got off in Dangriga and got a free taxi service to the bus station! Belize is looking good so far. We caught a bus right away to Belize city and everyone is so friendly! And they all speak english! It's like Paradise! And the scenery was amazing, so beautiful. Belize City was kind of a hole, but it was only for one night. Up the next morning to catch the water taxi to San Pedro on Ambergris (which I'm pretty sure means whale vomit) Caye.
Well, it's pretty here, a little touristy, but nice. The Blue Hole dive isn't looking good though. They need 10 divers...maybe friday he says. Though he said since it's low season he'd rent us the gear for free! We'll see how it goes.
Tristan, out.
