Quito turned out to really suck. Sure the historic center would´ve been neat, if it wasn´t filled with creepers, but the rest of the place was just...unfriendly. I might have been slightly biased however. While in an Internet cafe I had my SD card stolen...with ALL my pictures. Only the ones that I have managed to upload on here I still have. The rest...are gone. So I´m afraid the entries that I said I would upload photos for and never got around to....I never will. This is by far the worst thing that has happened on the trip so far.

Needless to say we left Quito in a hurry. Toady we went, on what would prove to be the new worst bus ride of the trip, to Tulcan, Ecuador. It started off ok, being the only two people on the bus. Little did we know the bus terminal wasn´t the regular place to catch the bus. The bus driver pulls over in the middle of a busy street NEXT to the bus station and sells tickets to passers by. So, still just outside the bus station and an hour later then scheduled, we leave! So we think. The bus actually stops about 30 more times before actually leaving Quito, by this time, the bus is 2 hours late and filled to the brim. Now finally on rural roads the bus driver decides it´s time to speed up. Only he speeds up A LOT!!! He also insisted on passing everyone, no matter how narrow or windy the road. To top it all off, we read in the LP that Ecuadorian buses are notorious for having luggage stolen and I can see why. Everywhere else we´ve been they tag your luggage and give you a tag so you can´t claim a bag without the number. This is not the case in Ecuador. So we had to watch carefully every time someone got on or off.

Anyway, we made it, caught a cab to Rumichaca at the border and Colombian migrations went over without a hitch. A short cab ride from there and here we are in Ipiales. So far Colombia is awesome. I´m excited (and admittedly a little scared) to see what´s next!

Hey Tristan I am SO sorry to hear about your memory card being stolen, I feel your pain as my entire camera got stolen in Rome. Well hey man at least you'll always have the memories we just unfortunately won't be able to see them. Cheers
Chris
