Where I stayed
The Royal Bintang Hotel
The Batu Caves were amazing. Enormous and so worth a look. Unfortunately what is a beautiful site has been desecrated by shops... in the cave! So ugly and so shouldn't be there. Somewhere some heads should be knocked together, it should never have been allowed to happen.
The long-tailed monkeys are very cute and if approached very aggressive! We were warned by our tour leader before we climbed the 280 (or so) steps up into the cave, that we should not feed, stare or approach the monkeys and definitely not carry any food, drinks or plastic bags (visual association with food)
On our return to our hotel we had the bus driver let us alight the bus mid-traffic near some local shopping centres, so we spent a little time in a National Geographic shop enjoying an afternoon coffee and Miranda a chocolate lava cake. We spoke to another gentleman in the shop who is an Aussie from Perth working 4 weeks into a 2 year contract in Kuala Lumpur. It was an interesting conversation about life in KL for a newbie ;-)
This evening, after a little more English school work, we dined in the hotels buffet restaurant. Stuffed full of all sorts of goodies, we're hitting the sack early, as tomorrow is a visit to an elephant sanctuary. Miranda is so excited.
