January 3rd 2012. Next stop, Kissimmee, Florida. January 3rd 2012. My 19th birthday, yay. Though, spending your birthday on a six hour flight from New York to Orlando isn't much fun. It was probably the worst flight I’ve experienced. Sitting in the window seat of the emergency exit with cold air rushing through your body as you shiver and try to get comfortable with the little woolly airplane blankie isn’t that great.

Florida was nice. You know what I did there? Nothing. I spent my mornings in bed watching Black Entertainment Television, arvos tanning and relaxing by the pool, nights enjoying dinner after a long spa bath, and repeated this for six days. I did do the whole Disneyworld thing. I have to say; I found my inner child in Magic Kingdom. Though some of the rides consisted of a bit too much water for my liking. By the end of the night I was soaked, head to toe. My hair was messy and reeked like dirty water; I was walking like a man so my wet legs wouldn’t rub against each other and my hoodie was safely secured around my head, also adding to the feeling of masculinity.

As we waited around for 9pm to hit, the nightly fireworks had begun. Hands down, they shit on Sydney’s fireworks. I love all things bright, so I felt like a kid in a candy store. Everyone just stood there like statues, watching all these bright explosions go off in the sky. This was definitely the highlight of the week. There is nothing like spending a day being ten years old again, screaming from the top of your lungs as you go on rides, stuffing your face with fairy floss and churros then going home and indulging in a bubble bath.

So that’s what Kissimmee did to me. Staying in a deserted resort, I was pretty much forced to relax and just enjoy the little things; good company, breakfast in bed, hot baths, hot sun and comfortable mattresses.

I guess you could say the week in Florida was pretty much the quiet before the storm. The storm being sunny California of course
