This past weekend Tara and I made a trip to Taipei together. It was a fun girls weekend away from Taichung. I was able to see some of the tourist sights that I hadn't see and get in some good food and shopping along the way!

On Saturday we spent the day visiting some sights. Our first stop was Taipei 101, this is currently the second tallest building in the world. It was number one until this past year when the Burj Khalifa was completed in Dubai. Taipei 101 is 101 floor high with 8 tiers of 8 (8 is a lucky number) and is made to resemble bamboo. It is a cool building to see! We were able to take a trip up the the 89th floor. To get to the top you ride in the worlds fastest elevator....89 floors in 37 seconds! I wish the elevator at my apartment was that fast! The view from the top is amazing! I am glad I finally made it to the top!

After Taipei 101 we decided to eat out Outback Steak House! YUMMY! It was so good and what trip to Outback would be complete without an onion blossom! After we stuffed ourselves with delicious food we went to check out Chiang Kai Shek Memorial. I have already been here twice but it is really beautiful and always fun to visit again.

After our sightseeing we went back to rest up and then headed out for some drinks. We went to a place called Brass Monkey. We treated ourselves to fun, fruity drinks. One of our Taiwanese friends also was in Taipei so she met up with us for some drinks! It was a nice night out!

The next day we made a shopping trip to Ikea! It was fun to be in an American style store! I didn't make any big purchases, just some small stuff for the apartment. After shopping we tried to go back to the Brass Monkey for lunch only to find it didn't open until 5. Then of course it started to pour! We were hungry and didn't know what to do for lunch. We didn't want to have to trek all around town to find somewhere to eat. We had settled and were just going to eat at the McDonald's near our hotel but on the way back Tara spotted Hooters tucked back on a side street! We decided to just eat there. This was the first time I had ever eaten at a Hooters! It was pretty funny! After our lunch we headed back to Taichung. It was a nice short trip but fun! I am now looking forward to a trip to Kenting in 2 weeks with Tara and her parents when they come to visit.

I am currently enjoying a cool down here in Taiwan. We have a few days in the forecast where we won't be hitting 90 and it will cool down to in the 70's at night! It is nice to be outside and not completely sweating! It was even a little chilly on my scooter this morning! I am pretty sure I am going to freeze my first winter back in MN. I am already not looking forward to it! haha

Well that is all for now! I will try to not let another month pass before I update you on life on the other side of the world!

Until next time....miss you and love you!
