Bonjour! OK, so yesterday was a loong day. I woke up at about 9am (7am alberta time) and checked out of the hostel. I just started wandering, and ended up in Vieux Montreal. I visited Basilica of Notre-Dame, which was excessively beautiful. And yes, I was a little irritated that the church charged not only an entrance fee, but a fee for lighting candles. Of course, I guess I haven't been to the Vatican, at which point I think I will have a nervous breakdown.... lol
So afterwards je continue to wander around vieux montreal. I learned that I should do two things while travelling and walking, a) check the forecast and b) carry my damned umbrella!! So it started a nice steady rain while I was still wandering, and it got a little chilly considering I was down at the port. I tried to run into the IMAX to watch their Aqua show, but found out I missed 1 of 2 english showings that day and that the next english run was later in the evening. So I decided to walk back to the hostel and perhaps go to some museums near the hostel, but when I got about 1/2 way back, my broken toe started bugging me, as well as my blister, so I gave in, got a cab, and hopped the bus to Trois-Rivieres.
Also on the list of mentionables in beautiful Montreal, I was waiting patiently for my bus when a woman walked right in front on me, CLEARLY picking her nose. And not just like, a little nudge either. She was full throtle up her nose with her long red finger nails. Her big nose was all scrunched up too because she was digging so hard. I was thouroughly grossed right out. Then she stopped, and I was relieved, until she decided her other nostril needed attention. At which point I was like gagging. Anyways...
So after a decent bus ride, I disembarked along with ALL of my luggage, and found that there were like 20 of us that were here for the exchange program, so we had quite the time not only getting cabs to l'universite, but talking to the totally french cabbies. Fun times. So anyways, I am here now, the dorms are actually quite nice, if only really bare, and the dorms are like, surrounded by woods. Its very nice. We have a friendly neighborhood woodchuck. He's too cute. I will post pics if I get one of him.
Anyways, tomorrow is the first day of the program, and I am really excited about it. So I will try and post tomorrow since I now have an internet connection in ma chambre. PS, I'm also going to try to work some french into here so it may get a little more french as time progresses, but I will try to keep it readable for you anglais speakers ;)
xoxo
