April 1, 2012 Off the grid. Unplugged. Incomunicado. No phones, no internet, no tv, no radio. Well, we do have an SSB radio. It's a marine Ham radio that we can tune into for weather reports and emergencies and to talk to someone, but that is the extent of our communications out here. Eventually I will learn how to send emails and update this blog with the SSB and a modem, but
today I can't call my daughter Jen, or my sons Scott and Donnie and that's tough. I just want to say hi, and tell them we're fine and just how mind numbingly beautiful it is here and find out what they
are doing, you know, tell them I love them.

I love this thing called cruising enormously, at least what I've experienced so far. But it takes some
getting used to. For instance, we are getting low on water so we'll have to be more conservative for the next few days until we reach Puerto Escondido. That means showers are minimal, and dishes are paper. I'm running out of dish soap too and need to remember how to provision so that doesn't happen again. But these are just minor inconveniences, missing my family and friends is a little more of a hardship.

On the plus side, I don't have to do the dishes, the weather is perfect and the water is warm 68/69) and the sea just explodes with birds and fish. The water is so clear that when we go kayaking around the bay, Ginger and Daisy bark at the fish and jump in to try and get them. We end up with two happy and very tired dogs by the end of the day.

Update April 3, 2012 12:00 noon; We are currently underway to Puerto Escondido to fill up the tanks and hopefully get a little cell phone reception. We are off Loreto right now and I have a little reception on my telcel internet card so I'm going to update the blog right now, but will have to upload pics later, stay tuned. We will probrably stay the night in P.E. and then head out to the islands for another week before heading down to the islands around La Paz. (We're fine kids! We miss you! Mom and Dois)
