Taking the bus to Cicade de Samba (Samba City) when Akshay lost his hat on the bus (think it was knocked out when we had to squeeze through the narrow turnstiles - I wonder what the fat tourists do?). Shame he had
only worn it for an hour or so!
En route, Roohi shouts "Look, look tourists! There must be something there!", so we got off and later realised it was a hospital when we got to it and then got lost. Eventually got to the Samba City (different location to the map) & tried on some carnival outfits and saw the main parade area.
Next stop Maracana stadium, home of Flamengo, Fluminese, Botafogo & Vasco; as well as home to Pele´s 1000th goal. Unfortunately weren´t in Rio long enough to catch a game but it was awesome (even Roohi thought
so). Used the Metro to get here and it was clean, confortable & cool (TFL could learn a few things).
Headed to Carpo Velmho to catch a train upto Corcovado ("hunch-back" hill) to witness sunset over the massice Christ statue.
In the night saw a collection of Brazilian music & dance (Samba, Choro, Copeira, etc.) at the Plataforma show in Leblon.
Got back to the hostel lateish & the hostel dude was quite relieved we were back in one piece! That explains something about Rio right?

Safest city
Glad you made it through the day...and Akshay even without his hat! Where are the photos? Carnival outfits would be interesting to see...Akshay with a blonde wig no doubt...and Ruhi with an Afro?
