Lazy breakfast and then hired a car from Avis. Drove to Hermanus via the coastal route. Amazing roads - smooth, wide and no rough drivers. They even have warning signs for potholes!

Drove through Camps Bay to Houts Bay Houts Bay

and then onto Cape of Good Hope Cape of Good Hope
Cape of Good Hope
(saw first whale here!). Max speed limit on the major roads is 120kph. Hire car bombs out at 110 so no chance of Akshay getting any speeding tickets.

Saw penguins at the Boulders colony (near Simonstown) Penguins...

and passed through fishing towns of Fish Hoek, Kalk Bay & Muizenberg (big waves with lotsa surfers). Amazing sunset at Sir Lowry's pass.

Dinner at Ocean Basket. All restaurants shut at 9pm in Hermanus so we were quite fortunate we got there at 8 (plus it was the only lively restaurant around!)

hmmm...
see even the South Africans knew - the restaurants shut down so early so that you can get some subsistence for the night ahead and get on with the more pressing matters ;)
