One of the advantages of a big city (especially for kate) is the amount of people staring at you drops dramatically. this led to a much more comfortable atmosphere where we could muddle about as we pleased. apart from the drama of trying to find a tourist office (none of the cabbies seem to know what one is)we enjoyed our stay here. the family run place in the medina we stayed at was cheap, clean and friendly and any museums or sights we visited seemed to have hardly anyone else around (the archeological museum was completely deserted and the bored ticket guy ended up giving us a personal tour despite his lack of english). this was our first real experience with the petit taxis that zoom around the city - the only cab ive been in where the cabbie growls and shakes his head when you go to put on a seatbelt.
