Well I hope that better late than never for my tails of the Sacred Valley around Cuzco. Of course it is more ruins, and very nice ones they were too..
Although I have left it so long to update that I cant seem to remember the names now. durrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!! Ah well, suffice to say that the sun was shinning high in the Andes and that it was great to see the ruins, even if most of the time I had no idea what I was looking at exactly as there are no signs or labels to tell one just what is what. I had to wonder where the very substantial entrance fees went (Mapi was over 20 quid and the Sacred Valley about!!. Still this is Peru, where most things are designed to get the money from the tourist. I think my main criticism of the country, there is no real sign of the money going into the monuments it is supposed to be supporting, and the army of "guides" who lurk around every site and give account of what each thing is can best be described as story telling, at least from what I overheard!!!!
Ah well cant win'em all, but all in all site themselves where very good, as someone without a guide I was able to see a lot more than those with one, given that I could go at my own pace, and some of the site were very big indeed!!! SO that was it for the Inca stongholds, for the next stop it is back to sea level and the greatest ocean of them all, the Pacific!!! More thumbnails ...
