I also met a fascinating man named Harry; 97 years old and looked maybe 60. He decrypted with Churchill in the war, held a myriad of positions over the years and still has affiliations with the Chancellor of the Exchequer. We discussed economic policy and I told him about the stimulus package they employed in Australia. He has apparently been arguing for something similar here and said he was going to tell the Chancellor about it. So there you go, dear reader, I have possibly influenced British financial policy - Andrew will be so proud :P
I spent part of the day wandering around the shops, as well as going for a wander through the Priory gardens - a beautiful area, though it was quite cold down by the river. I saw many things I'd have liked to buy, but I'm holding out for the Boxing Day sales. Or at least I'm trying to...
I met Emma, a family friend, for lunch at a new cafe that Gemma's friend recently opened up in the Hight Street, which is a combined cafe and shop called Bow House. We caught up over coffee, broccoli soup and antipasto. The food was amazing, the coffee was average, but I can be extraordinarily fussy when it comes to caffeine, and the English seem to enjoy their coffee milky.
