Arno writing: It's Christmas Eve and the sun has come out as a present. We went shopping yesterday to buy some clothes for Anastasia. The clothes we saw were not really cheaper compared to the U.S. We saw an "English" pub, but they did not have an English menu. We also saw a German restaurant, but their menu was only in Russian. We've only found one restaurant with an English menu, but we've fared well.
Anastasia has a swollen mouth today, probably from an infected filling she recently had.
There's nothing more we can do adoption wise until our court hearing on Thursday. So, we are spending our days mostly shopping. At night we usually watch a movie on the PSP. We brought about a dozen PSP movies.
Yesterday a small grocery store opened up right next to the hotel- attached actually. Now we can buy groceries next door. It's nice not having to lug groceries a mile back to the hotel. The opening of the grocery store was a big event here and crowds of people came on opening day. We went to an outside market Saturday. Saturday and Sunday are the busiest shopping days here. It was way too crowded at the outside market. People kept bumping into us and the smell was not too nice. Even Lancie didn't enjoy shopping! After the court date on Thur., we will take a train back to Kiev. I'm not thrilled about it because I've read some blogs about the trains here. But it's what our facilitator wants to do, and we don't want to travel seperately from her.

Lancie writing: Hi Kristen! It's good to hear from you! Isn't your new cousin just as cute as can be? You want to know what she likes, so I asked.... Her favorite color is "Pink, red, pink, red,...uh pink, red, red, red..."--take your pick! She is turning out to be quite a girly girl so far. She likes crafts, drawing, coloring, plucking the piano, (she doesn't really know how to play), and playing with Barbies. She really likes a pocket- sized spirograph I bought , but because it is so small, it is difficult for her. She might like a full-size spirograph. She also is very interested in my jewelry (was she hand-picked for me, or what?!). She loves to read, has a sweet tooth, and has become interested in The Little Mermaid since we explained the origin of her middle name.
She has gotten to talk on the phone with Grandma, Grandpa, JM, and Cameron a couple of times. She gets all tickled, shy, and flustered and can't remember what to say when on the phone with them. I don't know that she has ever talked with anyone on the phone before.
She is excited about coming to America and meeting all her family. She looks through the photo album I brought and names each person (and pet). She asks questions, and is connecting who is who in all those pictures.
It is Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas to everyone at home! Decorations are slowly going up, here, but it's not home. I especially miss the kids now. Tomorrow A.M. the children at the orphanage will present a "concert'. I think Anastasia's class will sing. We will have a full day tomorrow, as we will have Christmas with Anastasia's class after the concert. Then we will spend some time on the phone with home, hearing all about the "Christmas Action" going on with the kids.
