Today I woke up in San Jose, traveled through Miami, and ended up back in Chicago. My poor sister did the same thing, then had another flight home to Nashville--on her birthday no less! The day was just full of airports, customs and immigration, security check points, etc. All the wonderful things you experience as an international traveler.

A few notables...

- When the taxi driver taking us from our hostel to the airport, I was reminded that the bus driver to the volcano yesterday was singing along with 80s Spanish power ballads for most of the trip, which was pretty phenomenal.

- The Miami airport failed. We had to wait on the airplane for 40 minutes while they figured out what was wrong with the walkway/gate thing. Apparently there was a gap and it wouldn't move any farther. The pilot kept saying that we would switch gates, but it never happened. Eventually we did get off the plane.

- My mom arranged a surprise birthday party at O'Hare for Adrienne! We came out to the baggage claim, found carousal 7, and when Adrienne started heading for it, I grabbed her elbow and steered her away from baggage (which took 20 minutes to show up) and toward my mom and some family friends! We sang "Happy Birthday" and gave her brownies. Three more family friends showed up in the hour and a half we hung out in the baggage claim area. I think Adrienne was very tickled, which made me happy. Adrienne was most excited about seeing her cat though. :)

That is all for this excursion to Costa Rica! I am heading out to Nashville on 9 September, you can look for more then! Right now, it is time for bed. :)

Buenos noches amigos!
