From Seville it was another train to Algecira, the town across the bay from Gibraltar. We decided again to take it slow and spend a night in Algecira before our ferry to Africa. The hostel owner spent some time warning us of how much different and hard it is to travel in Morocco. Our reply was, DUH!, and that we still wanted to experience it for ourselves.
While riding the rails today we realized what a strange coincidence it is that we had just spent 5 months in the Spanish and Portuguese new world former colonies and now we've returned to the mother land. Spain and Portugal are significantly more developed and organized than South America. No doubt the silver of Potosi and Sugar Cane of Brazil benefitted the colonists much more than the colonized.
