Unlike the other countries we were able to travel around extensively we picked only slices of this long country, Cheelay (phonetically). The slices we chose were the top, middle, and far south (Atacama, Central Valley, and Patagonia respectively). The Atacama was surreal, Stantiago a pleasure, and Patagonia an adventure! After visiting the highlights of the country, we have many reasons to return, not to mention the 4,000km of surfable coastline. In light of that we hope our departure from Chile doesn't mean good bye forever.
Arik's Top 3 of Chile
1) Glacier Grey in Torres del Paine. The blue ice, the ice bergs, the views...wow!
2) The Atacama Desert. Like Mars or the Moon, or anywhere outside of earths orbit...
3) Santiago and Wine Tours by Metro. Cosmopolitan city that seems to have "the good life" figured out.
Charis' Top 3 of Chile
1) The Santiago Ritz Carlton. Such a fantastic break from the life of hostels. Having a bath, being able to flush toilet paper and a big king size bed was just amazing.
2) Sushi. Well we hadn't really seen any good sushi places since leaving home and we stumbled across a few in Santiago. And it was fantastic to have food that I recognized and tasted great.
3) 5 days in Torres Del Paine. Well the whole trek was amazing from seeing Torres to the Glacier. It was a great experience!
