Woke this morning after a night of bitter cold! According to the car it was -6, and we thnk the car shows high. What it was in the night no one knows, but there was plenty of ice on the ground and on the outside of the tents. Had breakfast, ProNutro and coffee, packed up and went. Not as early a start as we might have hoped for because we had to dry the melted ice off everything!

Road pretty much unusual, trees, rolling landscape and the usual. Lots of burning going on and gone on - was it the Russians who invented the scortched earth policy? Now we know how they developed it.

Aimed for Mogdogochi as its a good way towards Khaborovsk so that the next 2 days aren't too excessive. The road is good and there is no point in holding back. However the first road we came to into the village was troubled by potholes in the mud, so we took the long way round. Not much better. Howebver we are here now, in a Russina hotel, looks like a dormitry as we have 4 beds in the room! Had a good meal, and now its time to go to sleep. You'll have to wait for this one too!

Martin's moment:
Uneventful day as we drove and kept motoring to get the mileage under our belt.We did well and got just under 600K,so we are half way along the Amur highway and set for a good run in to Chabarovsk/Vladivostok.Not much to report other than we managed also to stop for mid-morning coffee and a spot of lunch at about 3.00.Fallen in to a stop over that looks a bit dodgy and hope that car is safe.Need to make a swift exit in morning in order to avoid a character who has locked on to us. Rog wants to be away by 8.00 so we'll get up at 7.00 and be away.
We seem a little under pressure at moment and perhaps somewhat apprehensive. No wonder at this stage of what we are doing.
If we can knock off 500K+ tomorrow we will be well set.Keep everything crossed even more tightly than ever and we'll be OK.

Jem on

I would suggest if anyone wants to locate Mogdogochi they change all the 'o' to 'a', google maps seems to prefer that spelling!!
