Prepared for an early departure today. However we were called back for an unexpected breakfast - fried egg with bread and salad! All included.

Then Martin looked under the car and saw that the sump guard had taken a direct hit sometime and was bent so that it wasnt providing any more prorection to the sump. So we removed it, and panel beat it back into shape. Then refitting it was difficult because the bolt holes no longer lined up. Major work going on under the car in the hotel forecourt.

Eventually got on the road about 11am and of course it was the same as yesterday, except more of it. DUST! We shered the driving and stopped for a nutritious bowl of Pro Nutro! And a choccy biscuit and some of the slab of chocolate. Havent had them before as the temperature was in the 30's and chocolate is molten then. So tasty, but misshapen.

About 5ish, we came to a river crossing. The first car we saw being towed across the river, the tractor pulling it stalled, so the car started getting washed away! Eventually got the second tractor out and rescued both. More lorries towed across while we redied Stanley, by putting plastic around the distributor, coil, lower filler cap, etc. The water came up to the top of the tractors front wheel, so we were very apprehensive. Eventuially it was our turn, and the tractor took us a different route, so the water wasnt so deep. He also took us across another stretch, which the others had to negotaite on their own.
Then the fee! I asked how much and he said 30000 Togreg. I said theat the other guy had asked 10000, so his eyes lit up and he said yes. Thats about 4 So we were all very happy, especially when I gave him an extra 2000.

Camera appears to have packed up - probably the excess of dust. Could cause problems lkeeping you in the picture.
Then it was off again, seriously behind on our schedule, Today is the longest days travel in this section, and setting off late and the river cost us dearly in time. By the time we got to Bayanhongor it was dark, and driving on a rough road in the dark, when you have no idea where itsd going next is not fun. Came to a bridge on the outskirts oof B and discovered the bridge was out. Three maintenance vehicles on the other side with their lights on, blinding people approaching, but doing nothing positive.

Wernt to the hotel recommended by the guid ebook, its a restaurant, not a hotel. So came to this one. Has hot water, only just. And littel pressure. So the dirt was washed but not effectively. Had a pleasant meal of chicken, ricee and chips, now we're done, in more ways than one!

Martin's morbid moment:
So apart from above we also had to refit exhaust which this time had shed two brackets.A long hard day and quite frightening when you think how remote and alone we are,We can look in all directions and not see a soul.Stanley is our hope.So we arrived late in dark driving across desert.Breaking one of few absolute rules in our thin book.Hopefully tomorrow we reach tarmac roads and Saturday drag ourselves in to Ulaan.
But again thing to remember is stoneguard under sump did itd job and protected sump,we had towing tools to get across river and we could fix exhaust.
Worse we lost another hour last night and are now 7 hours in front of ypu.
I know thia is hardly the stuff of Scotts'diaries but you are getting it as we feel it.Right now I'm shot.May write something else in morning-see how I feel.Just need to get away from this dust. One good thing is that all this apprehension does wonders in strengthening you pelvic floor.Sleep tight
