Chiang Mai is a lovely town in the North of Thailand with a temple high up in the clouds on a mountain top. As we reached the top of this wonder, I realized that I had forgotten the camera (but not the hats). I am hoping that my sister and brother in law who visited this temple last year did not forget theirs.

The mountain top site has many ornate and gilded temples which are surrounded by gardens of fruit trees and exotic orchids. Monks float softly in and out of the buildings.  It is a spiritual, peaceful and heavenly site.   However, we always know when my family turns a corner as we hear the two boys talking loudly and incessantly, waving their hands to accompany every sound and expression.  (Where is that on and off button?).  I often wonder from what French side of the family they could have inherited this skill? 

We were blessed by a monk and all received a white string to tie round our wrist.  I had to receive mine from an attendant, as monks do not touch or communicate with women.  Oh, the questions I could ask them!

You KNEW you were going to need at least a few bits of all that preparation! Here's hoping you don't need any more!

(Oh, and before Xavier's head gets too big, 'master' is just the equivalent of 'miss', for boys.)
