There are a good number of connections now from Inverness to the rest of the UK thanks to FlyBe and Easyjet. Unfortunately London Heathrow is now no longer one of them. In order to make our connection to Barcelona we had to travel down to Bristol teh night before.
We took Easyjet down, it left almost on time (only 15 mins late) which was nice. Uneventful trip and arrived at Bristol airport. We were staying at the Holiday Inn at the Airport which of course is NOT at the airport but is in fact 15 minutes drive south of the airport in the completely wrong direction if you want to go to Bristol.
We called the hotel from the courtesy phone at the information desk and waited at the Rapid Pick Up point. The mini bus arrived 40 minutes later. For some reason it was the hotel receptionist who was driving the bus.
We checked into the hotel, it was a standard Holiday Inn with no real facilities. I dont like Holiday Inns as they have no toiletries you can take away with you! Im down to my last several hundred wee shampoo bottles as well.
A friend of ours lives down in Bristol so she came out and picked us up. If you wish to go to Bristol it will cost you £31 in a taxi each way.
House of Fraser were having a moving stores sale so an hour in there and we came out with some Portmerion plates and a Radley handbag (which was "a bargain" apparently).
We returned to the hotel and had dinner with the other couples who were going on the trip with us. One couple were a few hours late due to the Easyjet flight being delayed.
The meal was quite nice and better than I expected from a Holiday Inn. We retired early to watch the post eviction show from Big Brother :D
