We've got a fair bit of news in the past few days.
1) We got a car. 1997 Honda Civic hatchback that seems to run good so far (and we've taken it out exploring a few times).
2) Aron has a job at Alcatel. He will start on Monday so we're making the most of this last free week. Sheila has had a couple of job interviews and has one tomorrow at a company she's quite interested in.
3) We have a place to live (or we will on December 6). We will be staying here in the Aro Valley until then though. It is a 3 story townhouse (with modern insulation :) but no central heat :( ) in a central part of Wellington, near Courtenay Place for people who know Wellington. It comes with a parking space in a parking garage which is a big plus in the centre. It's fairly small but bigger than many apartments we've seen downtown. The downstairs is the living area with a nice storage closet under the stairs. The second floor has a bedroom and bathroom (but no bathtub), and the third floor has the second bathroom. Sheila will probably like the third story since it should be quiet and warmer (heat rises).
We still have alot of stuff we will have to buy for the place because it's not furnished but we found some students moving out of country so we're buying a fair bit of smaller appliances from them. Need to get furniture though. Trademe will be our friend for this.
We've also been making the most of Aron's last free week. Yesterday we went over to the Wairarapa (wine region over the mountains north of Wellington about 1-1.5 hours drive). We had a nice lunch, did some wine tasting, checked out some small cute towns, and did a bit of geo-caching. We also found Pueblo (strategy game long out of print) in a small games store in All Aboard Games in Featherston.
Today we went up the coast a bit to Porirua visiting an art gallery, having lunch there, exploring some beaches and doing some walks in various parks geocaching. The weather was lovely today.
Don't know if mentioned but we played strategy board games all weekend (it was raining) with a nice group of gamers in Johnsonville.
We also found a Thanksgiving event! The American Womens Group (club here) has a yearly Thanksgiving event (potluck sort of thing).
