The place we are staying is nice. One of the first neighborhoods outside of the city center. It was kinda funny when we arrived because the woman we are renting the place from wasn't here but just left us a note and a key. We had a nice nap and then got up and wandered around the city for a couple of hours getting enough groceries to make dinner
Gillian, the lady we are renting the house from is very nice but we've hardly seen her. She's letting us rent the place for a week while she's here and then goes on tour for 3 weeks while we rent the place here.
We slept well and seem to have gotten over the jetlag already so that's nice.
A few observations so far:
I found you can get peanut butter in the supermarket here (had trouble finding it in other overseas places I have lived) and even found a rootbeer at an Asian store (for the exhorbitant cost of $2 NZD). We found a loose leaf tea store too which made me happy. The central library looks very nice. We have sent ourselves a letter that we can bring the the library as proof that we live here. We did a number of errands today like investigating mobile phone deals, starting to open a bank account and things like that.
That's about it for now. I hope it warms up!
