So here I am in training now with only three other volunteers and one language instructor all in a small mountainous farming community. My host family consists of a nanang (mother) her son, my adian (little brother) who is only cinco (five)years old and her brother who is 27. Ronnie, the brother does all the cooking since my nanang, cherri says she can't cook (she may just be trying to get out of it....hahaha j/k). Anyway we live in the upper part of a beautiful valley and from the front porch I have the best view of one of the many mountains around, when I have to walk home uphill its not so great though. We have many animals each for a specific purpose: two dogs-for protection, one cat-to help eat leftovers, twoi birds-because they're pests to the farmers rice fields nearby, and a few chickens and ducks which I sure you can figure out the reasoning there. SO I wake between 4 and 5 to the roosters, and thus begin the day (actually get up at 6 though, who am I kidding). We currently and for the next two months will have language training four hours a day and six days a week. ugh...but I know it is necessary since none of us can really communicate with the locals with out it. Oh yeah I rode a carabaw the first day, not really suprising to most of you-but the people here thought it was histerical and tonight we are all going to play basketball (the most popular Filipino sport) agianst the kowgowigs (the barangay (city) officals). It will be very comical I am sure, especially since none of us are very good. Other than that nothing new....its still hot and oh yeah I got sick from the water or something I ate a few days ago and today am just starting to feel better. Yeah thats about it. Hope everyone is doing well, love and miss you all.....sige babye....Amber
