We left Railay and caught a 2 hour ferry to Koh Lanta. On the ferry over we all toasted by the sun, particularly Josh's knees. Avoiding all the hassle at the dock, we caught a songthaiw to Khlong Khong beach and checked in at Bee Bees. The simple but beautifully created bungalows and seating areas were perfect for lounging about and relaxing. We rented motorbikes and rode to the islands view point for sunset. We dropped by a guest house where we thought our friends Matt & Seema were, but we had the wrong place.

That evening we went to a couple of bars but everything was dead. There was apparently a full moon party, but we were the only guests.

Quite a relaxing day. We had breakfast at Bee Bees and rented motorbikes to explore the island. As we were heading south we passed another guest house where we thought Matt & Seema might be, and found them at reception. They were staying at Lanta Marine Resort and we checked out a bungalow, deciding to stay there for Rick & Josh's last night. 800 baht for a luxury bamboo bungalow with air con and real duvets. We relaxed that evening at Bee Bees, swinging in our hammocks and watching a spectacular sunset.

An early rise for our snorkelling trip. We collected Matt & Seema and the boat took about an hour to reach the first point, Emerald Cave. We swam with life jackets into a small opening as it was high tide, diving under the mouth of the cave into the darkness. The entrance was a beautiful green, lit up from the sunlight outside. But it soon turned pitch black as we cautiously made our way through to the other side. Occasionally we had to swim under water to avoid the roof of the cave, but we soon came out into an amazing lagoon where pirates used to hide their treasure. We went to 2 other snorkelling areas that had lots of fish but not much coral. We had a lovely lunch on a white sands beach on the island Koh Ngai. We had plenty of time to swim in the crystal clear waters.

Feeling sunburnt we enjoyed another quiet night at Bee Bees.

Today we moved to Marine Lanta Resort. It is Rick & Josh's last night and we spent the day with Matt, Seema & Simon. We chilled on the beach before heading out to the well known restaurant Same Same But Different. We had a delicious meal of fresh seafood and curries with Matt's Boss's family. After a few drinks we said goodnight to them and went back to Lanta Marine to play some poker.

Rick & Josh's last day. They fly back to Bangkok at 7.10pm and the bus to Krabi airport left at 2pm. Another relaxing day on the beach with the others and we all had a beer at our restaurant. We said our goodbyes and then they were gone!

That evening we played cards and watched a film, making the most of living in a luxury bungalow.

Last day on Koh Lanta. We spent most of the day figuring out our plan. We originally thought we would head to Koh Lipe, but finally decided to head to Malaysia, crossing at the eastern border, convenient access for the Perhentian Islands. Ate at a local restaurant in town and had a few drinks whilst swopping films and music. We said goodbye to Matt, Seema & Simon and headed to bed.

An average of 8.30 a day.
3000 baht (60) for 3 nights at Lanta Marine Resort.
