Where I stayed
We were on the airport shuttle bus at 7am which took around an hour to reach Khao San Road. First impressions of being back in Bangkok was that Thailand has a lot of money. The skyline was vast as we approached the city, it was a big change from Sri Lanka.
Walked to New Joe Guest House, which runs parallel to Khao San Road, recommended by our good friends Beth and Dan. At $7 a night we were happy and splashed out on a big breakfast with a beer!
Got on top of laundry and went on a walk, the smells and heat were all too familiar!
Decided before dinner to treat ourselves to a Thai massage after our long journey. 180 Baht each (3.50 quid) for 1 hour. Jamie got more than he bargained for and ended up with a very obvious lady boy! Highlight of the massage being a compromising position involving the lady boy's head and elbow being in Jamie's crotch whilst taking the time to send a text message with his available hand! Lara was quite amused!
We then tucked into a feast of chicken satay, vegetable spring rolls and red curry with chicken and pineapple. We then wandered the streets absorbing the chaos and people watching. We soon made the decision to get away from the city altogether and head to some nice sandy beaches in Cambodia, so we booked through an agency and packed our things for the morning. The bus was quite pricey but worth it for the convenience and the one night accommodation. 1250 Baht each.
Total 45 quid (not including Cambodian bus fare)
