Silence. Sun. Sand. Surf. Sea. Swimming pool. Spa. Service. Samui. The beautiful island of Ko Samui in southern Thailand. I suppose it's like any beautiful tropical island, which is not at all a bad thing. But after two years working on "Bolt" and then two months traveling around the world from one place to another, having four days to lay around and do absolutely nothing (which I am sticking to very seriously) is just heaven. I'm not normally one to enjoy just sitting at the beach. But I'm willing to make an exception now and then. What helps is the wonderful service we have at Zazen Resort. They think of your needs before you do. The rooms are very comfortable, the food is delicious, the atmosphere and view are perfect. Really, there's no reason to leave even to explore the rest of the island, and we haven't. :-)
We spend New Year's Eve here. Judging by how everything else has been, I'm sure it will be amazing. Great food, Thai dancing, fireworks, balloons, everything. Not a bad way to ring in 2009. Then on to Cambodia and the rest of our stops. Only one month to go after this much needed break.
