Hi, I'm looking for electronics...

Unforunately my time in Europe was running out and I didn't get to spend more than a night in Madrid. With less than 24 hours to discuss, I would hardly consider this worth sharing if it did not hold some significance.
It was in the last few days of Barcelona that this story really starts. For it was then that my camera, the only posession I really care for in this world, died on me. No idea what happened; it worked fine before lunch - after lunch, nothing. What ever the case was, fixing it was NOT an option. There was no time left for that. In a few short days I would be in Africa where cameras are best used, not bought.
Thus brings us to Madrid where I sought to resolve my crisis and do so quickly. I had 20 hours, a VISA card and number of reputable stores in my neighborhood to visit. Things looked opptomistic. Of course purchases like this are not to done spontaneously so first I did do a bit of researching. A bit... as in one hour! This is nothing close to the time of consideration I would normally require, but the clock was ticking and a decision had to be made.
In the end, I decided to stick with what I knew and bought another Canon. (IXUS 700 for those interested.) The reviews seemed good and I wouldn't have to read the product manual quite as closely. A minor difficulty since they were all in Spanish! The cost was high, but the quality has been good. I can only hope this one lasts longer than it's brother.
Here are a few shots taken as I rushed through the Madrid airport with my new cherished friend.
