Super soccer star

Part way between Amsterdam and Rotterdam lies the tiny town of Voorhout and it's popular neighbor, Noordwijk Beach. I swung through here just for a night to meet up with Dek and Martina to see where they call home.
We had all just been to the U.S.A. for Aaron and Stephanie's wedding so many good stories and laughs had already been shared. Not surprisingly things continued nicely here in Holland. As our evening came to a close, Dek laid out the thrilling tale of this brilliant soccer career. The amazing goals, championships, magazine covers... He's quite a sports hero here. Or so I will tell everyone. :) But seriously, do inquire if you ever pay him a visit - there's some good photos to be seen!
The next morning Dek was off to work - a horrid thought, I know - and I was left in the good hands of Martina. In proper Dutch fashion we biked down the narrow streets to a little cafe and had a warm breakfast. It was a pleasant day and many locals biked by as we shared in quiet conversation. Afterwards, we hit another local spot and played a few games of pool. Oh, how I missed shooting pool.
Before long I had to jumped back on a train to Amsterdam and continue the journey onward. It had been an excellent visit; I left with a good taste of small town Holland and a desire to return and enjoy their company once again. Perhaps next time my timing will be better and we wll have more time to relax in their attractive beach culture. Thanks Dek!
