With the flat dry plains of Nazca behind me, it was now time to roll into the hot sand dunes of Huacachina. What a paradise!

I've never been to an oasis before, but this place was special. So quiet and peaceful from the tourist craze just a few days back. During my short time here I managed to kick back, meet some great people, have a fun BBQ and get some well-needed writing done. Just perfect all around.

Oh, and on top of it this place has a massive "sandbox" in it's backyard for kinds to play in. :) With the second day coming to an end, I joined up on a buddy trip out to the massive sand dunes. With hundreds of crests waiting to be breached, it was a thrill to race around in our buggy exploring the area. At times we would also stop to sand board (like it sounds - think snow boarding on sand) or "sled" down the slopes. It was actually amazingly FAST and FUN!

The day ended with beautiful sunsets and of all things, a minor EARTHQUAKE! What an amazing find I stumbled upon. You must go and check it out for yourself.
