Hitting a capital should sound exciting.

In Laos it isn't. A four hour journey south of the madness takes us to Vientiane. It's a city without the hustle and bustle, but that makes it very very boring.

To give it credit, some parts are lovely. If you like spending you're days strolling on the river front, drinking and eating, then this could be a very nice place for you. But then there's only so much you can really take of walking around, eating drinking and sleeping. Oh and you can go bowling. It's the most popular past time in Laos, but if you've done it before, you're not missing out.

As with the rest of the county, it's a very French place. The whole city is full of it's buildings, food, language and not surprisingly, the people. The main thing to do is sight seeing. Here you can see Laos's version of the Arc De Triumph, some very old temples and their national symbol, Pha That Luang, which is impressive, but smaller than it looks on all the websites you see.

It's important to add that there is something a little creepy about the
place. It could be the amount of very old men walking hand in hand with
very young Laos girls.

Apart from that, there's not much to tell you about the place. Should you go if you've never been. Yes, but not for too long. Not all places in this whole trip can be exciting.

If this entry has been a tad dull, we apologise. Not for the writing, but for Vientiane. Hopefully, Hanoi will be a lot more interesting.
