Arrived in Sucre adn got a place to stay pretty quickly. Went straight off to a doctor with Tadgh, but whilewetried to find adn english speaking one we ended up finding an eye specialist as a local woman told us that the english speaking doctor was a complete rip off.
His first words when he looked at Tadghs eye was ...Very Bad (en espanol of course). We thought it was curtains for the trip , I had visions of operations and hospitals etc. The guy was great though, he saw him every day for 3 days about 4 times a day...even on his day off. ppor Tadgh was having an awful time of it though, a lot of pain and I was leading him around like a blindman half the time.
In the mean time we just hung around Sucre. Its a really nice place. The town is immaculate and not half the pongs of Potosi! Theres a lot of gringo joints there so we ended up eating in one place, the Joy ride´cafe practically every day, just happy to get some normal food again! The night life wasn´t too bad either....I left Tadgh at home suffering one night for a night out with the girls (aren´t I heartless)....we didn´t hit the dance floor till about 3am, when everyone had left but boy did we burn it up when we finally did! We were also instructing the DJ on every song to play so it was a good ole laugh. All in all it was a pretty chilled time in Sucre....with 4 hourly visits to the specialist we couldn´t really do much! The last day we managed to do a small bitof exploring and ended up in a park have a race in some kiddies quad bikes....mad tings that we are!
We moved on eventually to La Paz with our news friends! For a nice town thier bis station was chaotic. We hadto check in our bags at the bus agency...then head dowstairsto get the bus at which point we looked up to see our bags beinglowered down by a ropepracitally on topof our heads as we qued for the bus. Then the drama started with them putting our bags on one bus adn telling us we were on antoerh. We kicked upa right fuss and ordered them to take our bags off. Anne was practically inside the luggage comparment trying to stopthem from closing the hatch! The the bus wewere supposedly meant to be on pulled out and they told us actuallywe were on the smae bus as our bags....so we had to sheepishly load them back on again after making a big fuss! Our journey consisted of two hours of the greatest hits of the 80´s...on video....all the old greats like Rick Astley etc....don´t know what it is with the South Americans and 80´s music....they´re mad for the stuff. Got to La Paz at about 6am that morning....feeling pretty nervous having been warned about kidnappings and murders etc.Still....safety in numbers!
