Then it was back onto the trolley and we hopped off at Fenway Park, the oldest baseball park in the US. It was super to have a look at the statues outside the park of the great ball players and to walk around the ball park and know that players like Babe Ruth had been there. We grabbed some lunch (a mound of nachos) at a brewery next to the stadium. Anton sampled two of the beers brewed on the property. We decided not to do the tour of the park as it was hellishly expensive and we decided that actually seeing a game one day would be more exciting. We did however pop into the Bleacher Pub which has been set up in one of the old batting pens used by the Boston Red Socks. From the pub we got a look into the inside of the stadium. It's not very big but has great character.
We climbed back onto the trolley and set off for the Boston Tea Party museum. It was a brilliant historic tour starting in a recreated meeting hall where we were addressed by Samuel Adam (an actor playing him anyway). We were rallied to take action and dump the tea in the sea
We climbed back onto the trolley for our last trip back to the stop closest to our hotel. We highly recommend the trolley tour option to anyone coming to Boston. It was so worth it. We got back to the hotel at 17:00 and rested for an hour before heading out to our last spoil of the trip - the Blue Man Group show!
We were amazed, laughed our sides sore and had the most fun evening ever. What a brilliant show. It's one of those things that you need to experience and the surprises shouldn't be spoilt by those who've been. But basically its a musical, colourful, perfectly creative show, artsy and brilliant. We feel so privileged to have had a chance to see it and wish the show would come to SA. We walked back to the hotel with a bounce in our step and a smile on our dials. We have had a day of fun, learning and amazement. Boston has a lot to offer and we could definitely come back, although in summer may be better when its a bit warmer. We leave tomorrow but have thoroughly enjoyed this last little escape together.
